IGF-1(Insulin-like growth factor 1), also called somatomedin C, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IGF1 gene. IGF-1 is an important growth factor secreted by skeletal cells and one of the bone-derived growth factors (BDGF). It can regulate osteoblast function and participate in bone remodeling in various forms.
