I arranged with this firm to move my belongings into storage and then on to Sheffield. Once my stuff had been collected, the owner unilaterally increased the agreed storage fee for the first month. He later tried to increase the monthly storage fee by nearly 50%!
I subsequently asked him to move my items to the Peak District. Only 15 miles beyond Sheffield, but again he increased the amount we'd agreed by almost 40%. He also asked for payment in advance, saying some customers hadn't paid him. (Now I know why).
On the removal day he didn't arrive until after 4 pm. He'd only brought one member of staff with him, and said me and my wife would have to help unload his van and carry my things inside. It became apparent that he'd wrongly brought with him several items which didn't belong to me; and hadn't brought several which did. He never responded to my numerous emails and phone calls about the matter, and I'm now taking him to the Small Claims Court.
